SUMMITS ABOVE 12000 FEET...

.A powerful kona low located northwest of the state will bring
periods of heavy snow, thunderstorms, and strong winds Thursday
night through Saturday. Freezing fog and light snow flurries are
possible over the summits through Thursday afternoon.

* WHAT....For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow flurries and
freezing fog. For the Winter Storm Watch, blizzard conditions
possible. Total snow accumulation of 12 to 18 inches. Winds
could gust as high as 110 mph.

* WHERE...Big Island Summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa above
12,000 feet elevation.

* WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 6 PM HST
Thursday. For the Winter Storm Watch, from Thursday evening
through Saturday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Slick icy road conditions. Visibilities may drop below
1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow.

...HIGH WIND WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON HALEAKALA AND BIG ISLAND SUMMITS...

* WHAT...Southwest winds 45 to 65 mph will strengthen to 65 to 85
mph by Saturday. Wind gusts will exceed 100 mph by Saturday.

* WHERE...Haleakala Summit and Big Island Summits.

* WHEN...From Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Winds this strong can make driving and walking
dangerous. The winds can forcefully open doors and damage hinges
or slam doors shut, possibly causing injuries.

Information:
A High Wind Watch for the summits means that strong and potentially
damaging winds in excess of 56 mph with frequent gusts over 66 mph
are expected but not yet occurring. Take precautions now to protect
property. Tie down loose objects or move them to a sheltered
location.
