...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM MDT SUNDAY... * WHAT...Periods of heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 7 and 14 inches, greatest over the higher hills. Locally higher totals are possible. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph early this evening, decreasing overnight. * WHERE...Portions of central and south central Montana. * WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 6 AM MDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible at times. The hazardous conditions will impact the Thursday evening and Friday commutes. Conditions may threaten young livestock. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will begin to develop over the area this evening, increasing overnight into Friday. Periods of snow will continue through Saturday night.

Locally higher gusts are possible. * WHERE...Portions of central and south central Montana. * WHEN...Until 9 PM MDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Strong to dangerous crosswinds will make travel difficult along Highway 191 from Big Timber through Judith Gap, and Highway 12 from Harlowton to Lavina. Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Any sparked fires in dry grasses will spread rapidly.
