...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Continued dangerous driving conditions and risk of power
outages.

* WHERE...The Piedmont and portions of the central/northern Coastal
Plain/Sandhills.

* WHEN...Until 1 PM EST this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Ice accumulations on power lines and tree limbs in
addition to increasing northwesterly winds may cause power
outages. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning
commute.

Information:
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for
the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded.

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills in the single digits, with some as
low as five below zero.

* WHERE...The northern Piedmont and northern Coastal Plain in
central North Carolina.

* WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 10 AM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with
prolonged exposure.

Information:
Use caution outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
Be sure that children wear proper clothing to protect themselves
from the cold.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals
have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
