* WHAT...Heat index values up to 114 expected.

* WHERE...Brooks, Coastal Cameron, Coastal Kenedy, Coastal Willacy,
Inland Cameron, Inland Kenedy, Inland Willacy, Northern Hidalgo,
Southern Hidalgo, and Starr Counties.

* WHEN...From noon today to 7 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

Information:
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit exercise and strenuous activities to
early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke. Heat related illnesses increase
significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.

...FOR PEAK HEAT INDICES BETWEEN 108F AND 111F DEGREES FRIDAY AFTERNOON...

The combination of hot temperatures and elevated humidity levels
will produce heat index values between 108 and 111 degrees for
several hours Friday afternoon into Friday evening. A few
locations may briefly experience heat index values above 111
degrees.

If you plan to spend time outside, drink plenty of water, wear
light weight and light colored clothing and take frequent breaks
from the heat. Young children and pets should never be left
unattended in vehicles.
