...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON SATURDAY TO 9 PM MDT SUNDAY... * WHAT...Temperatures up to 106 expected, with warm overnight lows in the upper 60s to low 70s offering little relief. * WHERE...Castle Country, Eastern Juab/Millard Counties, San Rafael Swell, and Great Salt Lake Desert and Mountains. * WHEN...From noon Saturday to 9 PM MDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses.
Information:
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

At 348 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Bingham Canyon Mine, or 10 miles east of Tooele, moving northeast at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... West Valley City, Sandy, Murray, West Jordan, Taylorsville, South Jordan, Draper, Riverton, Midvale, Herriman, Bluffdale, Kearns, Bingham Canyon Mine, Oquirrh, Granite, Camp Williams, and Copperton. This includes Interstate 15 between mile markers 289 and 299.
