...Critical Fire Weather Conditions Expected Thursday and
Friday...

.West-southwest winds are forecast to increase in speed late
morning and into the afternoon today. The best potential for the
strongest winds currently lies across Yuma, Dundy, Hitchcock, Red
Willow and Cheyenne county Kansas. There is a 20 to 30 percent
chance wind gusts could exceed 60 mph across Yuma, Dundy,
Cheyenne county Kansas and northern Kit Carson counties today.
Winds are forecast to be a bit weaker but still gusting around
25 mph along and south of Highway 40.

Another period of critical fire weather conditions is expected
across portions of northeastern Colorado on Friday. While winds
will not be as strong as today, persistant wind gusts to 25 mph
and ongoing dry conditions will allow fires to start and spread
rapidly.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 252 Yuma and 253 Kit Carson.

* TIMING...For the first Red Flag Warning, until 7 PM MDT this
evening. For the second Red Flag Warning, from 11 AM to 7 PM
MDT Friday.

* WINDS...West 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph this
afternoon. For Friday, west winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to
35 mph are expected.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 11 percent.

* IMPACTS...Unpredictable fire behavior. Any fires that develop
may rapidly grow and spread out of control.
