The best potential for the strongest winds currently lies across Yuma, Dundy, Hitchcock, Red Willow and Cheyenne county Kansas. There is a 20 to 30 percent chance wind gusts could exceed 60 mph across Yuma, Dundy, Cheyenne county Kansas and northern Kit Carson counties today. Winds are forecast to be a bit weaker but still gusting around 25 mph along and south of Highway 40. Another period of critical fire weather conditions is expected across portions of northeastern Colorado on Friday. While winds will not be as strong as today, persistant wind gusts to 25 mph and ongoing dry conditions will allow fires to start and spread rapidly. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 252 Yuma and 253 Kit Carson. * TIMING...For the first Red Flag Warning, until 7 PM MDT this evening. For the second Red Flag Warning, from 11 AM to 7 PM MDT Friday. * WINDS...West 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph this afternoon. For Friday, west winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph are expected. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 11 percent. * IMPACTS...Unpredictable fire behavior. Any fires that develop may rapidly grow and spread out of control.
