...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1215 AM CDT THURSDAY... * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of east central Kansas, including the following county, Shawnee. * WHEN...Until 1215 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 916 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Topeka, Silver Lake, Auburn and Pauline. - This includes the following highways... Interstate 70 between mile markers 347 and 355. Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 169 and 182.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
