Details:
...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM EDT THURSDAY... ...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, 1 to 2 of inundation
above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal
waterways. For the Beach Hazards Statement, dangerous rip
currents and large breaking waves in the surf zone.

* WHERE...Hatteras Island.

* WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 2 PM EDT
Thursday. For the Beach Hazards Statement, until 8 PM EDT this
evening.

* IMPACTS...Ocean overwash impacts will continue through at least
mid week, especially around high tide in areas where dunes have
been compromised. NC-12 between the Basnight Bridge and Rodanthe
remains closed. The next high tide is around 8 PM. Rip currents
can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper
water. Dangerous shore break can throw a swimmer or surfer head
first into the bottom causing neck and back injuries.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Tide levels will continue to rise with a
King Tide Cycle in place through the upcoming work-week. The
morning high tide will be the highest of the two daily tides.
King Tides peak Tuesday and Wednesday.

Information:
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be
closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone
property.

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.
