For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 12 expected. For the second Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 19 expected. * WHERE...Brooks, Coastal Kenedy, Inland Kenedy, Inland Willacy, Jim Hogg, and Northern Hidalgo Counties. * WHEN...For the first Freeze Warning, until 10 AM CST this morning. For the Extreme Cold Warning, until 8 AM CST this morning. For the second Freeze Warning, from 9 PM this evening to 10 AM CST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Death is possible to unprepared people and pets. An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. Take steps now to finish protecting cold sensitive plants and crops. Frost and freeze conditions could damage crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly.
